Centre Greene is proud to announce that Trevor Williams and Jonathan Cheung have joined its Board of Directors.
Trevor Williams is President of the Trevor Williams Kids Foundation, and Head Coach of Dawson’s Lady Blues AAA Basketball team. Born and raised in Little Burgundy, won a scholarship to American universities and was a member of the Canada national men’s basketball team. He is a member of the Basketball Canada Diversity Council. His work in the community has focused on youth leadership and mentorship through the basketball academy he runs, anti-bullying programs through his foundation.During his playing days as a point guard in the city of Montreal, he played at Westmount High School, and later at Dawson College for the Blues, AAA basketball team, His quickness, speed, and jumping ability were outstanding and were demonstrated when he played for Team Canada against the original USA Dream Team(Dream Team I) of basketball in the 1992 Tournament of the Americas, which took place in Portland, Oregon.In 1993, he founded the Trevor Williams basketball camp, and in 2002 he founded the Trevor Williams Kids Foundation to help troubled inner-city youth of the city of Montreal.
Jonathan Cheung has been the owner and chef of Appetite for Books in Westmount, since its opening in 2005. With over twenty years of professional culinary experience, as well as operating a successful and established cookbook store in Montreal, his passion for food, sharing knowledge, and community is reflective in his work. Originally from Vancouver, Jonathan grew up in the restaurant business and, after completing culinary school, cooked at restaurants in Vancouver, Hong Kong, and Montreal. Jonathan is an advocate for simple home cooking, with a core belief that food should not be fussy. He is the co-author of Montreal Cooks: A Tasting Menu from the City’s Leading Chefs, was a regular contributor on CityTV Montreals Breakfast Television, the current food columnist on CBC Radio Montreal “Lets Go”, and a featured judge on Food NetworksIron Chef Canada. Food and cooking may be Jonathans passion, but getting his two young children to eat their vegetables has been his greatest achievement.
Invaluable board members, Paul Billette and Jim Richards, stepped down after deeply impactful and dedicated mandates. They will be missed, though both will remain involved as volunteers at senior’s lunch and Treats and Treasures!
